Summary:
The BMT Clinical Nurse Manager/Educator are responsible for supporting and promoting the mission, vision and values of the Patient Care Services Department. She/he acts as a resource to both nursing staff and other health care professional to provide continuous quality care. She/he assures quality patient outcomes through the development and implementation of clinical standards, the provision of quality improvement activities, and by devising innovative and cost effective approaches to clinical practice and health care delivery systems.
Education:
In addition to the skills normally obtained through completion of a High School education, must be a graduate of an approved nursing program and maintain a current Rhode Island license. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred and demonstrated expertise in his/her clinical specialty.
Experience:
Two to four years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting. Previous management experience preferred. Must possess computer skills and experience with the Microsoft Office package. Bachelor's preference, Master's Degree in Nursing
Experience in Oncology a plus, OCN certified
Assess staff competencies and establish continuing educational needs
Potentially acute care experience-this would be beneficial
Adult Care only
Would have budgetary responsibility
Ability to administer Standards of Operation guidelines
Monitor FACT accreditation process and monitors compliance with Standard Operating Procedures of the BMT Program, and other regulatory bodies.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Certified Nursing Assistant
What you'll be doing:
-Continuously carries out the hospital mission to attain excellence in the provision of healthcare services by consistently fulfilling the commitment to quality, and by compassionately and skillfully delivering continuously improving total patient centered service.
-Participates with the Directors and other BMT Clinical Nurse Manager/Educators to develop and implement institutional, divisional, and department or unit goals.
-Develops strategic long-range plans for responsible department.
-Assists in developing a cost-effective departmental budget and operates within its parameters
-Develops and reviews plans of care for responsible department and develops standardized outcomes for the most prevalent case types.
-Provides direct care and emotional support, and education to patients and families to maintain clinical competency.
-Provides consultation and education to staff and other health care professions around clinical, professional, and ethical decision making.
-Identifies educational needs of patients and families and collaborates with nurses, ancillary staff, and other health care professionals to meet their needs.
-Assesses various emergency situations and provides guidance, support and/or direct assistance as deemed appropriate.
-Responsible for staffing and adjustments to schedule to meet patient care needs resulting from fluctuations in acuity and census.
-Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Services to recruit and hire appropriate qualified staff.
-Completes on-time performance evaluations; setting clear expectations and goals for performance to insure competency.
-Keeps Director of Clinical Services updated as to any issues of concern in a timely manner.
-Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the unit specific orientation program in collaboration with the Clinical Education Department.
-Maintains patient confidentiality as required by hospital policy. Holds monthly staff meetings
Monday - Friday 8a.m. - 5p.m., occasional weekend.
