The Information Assurance Engineer will:

  • Perform monthly Secure Configuration Compliance Validation Initiative (SCCVI) Scans to assess the status of the networks 

  • Upload scan results into the Vulnerability Management System (VMS) and provide VMS reports 

  • Create Plan Of Action and Milestones (POAM) for new systems and input POAM data into VMS 

  • Create Remedy trouble tickets for vulnerability tracking and compliance reporting 

  • Perform routine Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) checks on assets to ensure compliance 

  • Perform Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Gold Disk on servers and workstations to identify and analysis compliancy level 

  • Understand and assess compliancy or provide mitigation of the requirements of the Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP) IA controls 

  • Create required security documentation 

  • Ensure the enforcement of Department of Defense (DoD) and Information Assurance (IA) regulatory requirements and policies over existing IT resources connecting to command assets, and for the development and introduction of new and upgraded IT systems to networks 

  • Act as the liaison between the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) and IA departments 

  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Skills Needed:

 

  • Must possess a strong working knowledge of the DISA Gold Disk, VMS, Secure Configuration Compliance Validation Initiative (SCCVI), and Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) alerts. Requires an in-depth knowledge of a broad range of InfoSec disciplines to include automation concepts, methodologies, systems, and technologies.

  • Must demonstrate knowledge of IA policies, procedures and regulations such as DOD IA Directives 8500.1 and 8500.2 as well as DoDI 5200.40 and DOD 8510.2.

  • Knowledge of DoD policies, procedures, regulations, directives and requirements related to information security. This knowledge is used in development of guidance and procedures for the installation, to identify vulnerabilities, and to assess potential security violations or problems.

  • Experience with information assurance technologies, such as firewall configuration, router configuration, switch configuration, desktop security, encryption and certificates, and monitoring and intrusions detection systems.

  • Possess a thorough understanding of: Microsoft operating systems and applications. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Office 2007, Remedy, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and scanning utilities.

  • Familiar with the interrelationships of computer hardware, software and information systems in a multi-processing operational environment in order to evaluate information assurance security and assist technical and non-technical personnel in improving security.

Required Clearance

Must be able to obtain and maintain SECRET clearance; TOP SECRET preferred.

 

Required Education, Experience and Training

  • Advanced  computer skills required

  • Minimum two years experience in Information Security plus a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Information Security discipline 

  • Must meet and maintain all training requirements IAW DoD8570.1, for Management Level (HQ NORAD and USNORTHCOM IA Certification) and Technical Level II (Security + Certification) as directed by DoD Directive 8570.1 

  • (ISC)2 CISSP certification preferred
