Department Overview Symantec Managed Security Services delivers real-time security protection, helping organizations establish compliance, minimize business impact, and reduce overall security risk at acceptable cost in the face of today's emerging threat.  As a part of the Security Operations Center (SOC) Security Engineers work on a range of network, security, OS and network tools.

This position will focus on monitoring, diagnosing, and escalation of various security threats.

Responsibilities Priority focus is the scheduling, training and mentoring a team of 5-8 engineers that configure and maintain  firewall and IDS/IDP systems numbering over 6,000 deployed security devices in a global environment.

Other duties include Incident management, prioritizing workloads and ensuring 24/7 shift coverage Managing the day to day activities of technical operations team including:,

Customer escalations,

Workflow tickets,

Device audits Development of new functions and processes, training and awareness programs.

Technical Engineering duties include troubleshooting device problems and monitoring outages Attending to customer Requests for Change and requests for information, and conference calls, making recommendations on how to improved client security posture.

Managing cross functional interactions with various support teams to maintain a positive service culture.

Qualifications 2+ years demonstrated system and network experience within remote administration of various IT and/or security devices in a SOC/ or NOC.

Technical background in Windows & Unix operating systems, Linux experience preferred.

Proficiency in multiple security devices such as Checkpoint, Cisco, Symantec, McAfee, ISS, Sourcefire.

Previous Firewall, IDS/IDP experience Expertise in the administration of basic network services, such as FTP and Web servers.

Solid knowledge of TCP/IP protocols.

Background in detailed network routing and switching.

Previous team leadership or management preferred.
