This position will provide analytical chemistry leadership and support for multiple projects, guiding method development, conducting sample analysis, and interpreting analytical data. The position will also contribute as needed to research proposals and reports.
Additional responsibilities are:
Provides leadership and training to technical staff on procedures and instrumentation.
Develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Actively markets for new business opportunities and is lead author of proposals and technical reports.
Serves as primary contact for clients and represents MRI as a technical expert.
Reviews data for accuracy and completeness.
Manages projects and programs.
Conducts standard data analysis as directed by project leader.
Performs peer review of data and reports.

Requirements: Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Chemistry or related science with minimum of 10 years experience, or M.S. in Chemistry or related science with minimum of 12 years experience or B.S. in Chemistry or related science with minimum of 18 years experience.
Demonstrated hands-on experience with several of the following analytical platforms: Mass Spectrometry techniques including GC/MS, LC/MS/MS, and IC/MS; FTIR, RAMAN, XRF and PLM to investigate explosives samples, signatures, and related production and deterioration phenomena at both the bulk source and forensic levels.
Experience with statistical evaluation of data for clustering and similarity profiles of analytical data.
Ability to oversee laboratory setup and operations, analyze samples, troubleshoot sample preparation processes and instruments, make repairs to laboratory instruments, and analyze results.
Experience in a research environment, basic analytical skills, sample preparation/tracking data, thorough understanding of relevant federal regulations, QA/Safety/SOPs and instrumentation.
Ability to effectively communicate and interact with technical staff at all levels, including direct support of Client operations in a team-based environment.
Ability to work independently and assist team members.
Detail oriented.
Must have and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance.
