RTSC is seeking a Senior Field Engineer II to be part of the team that serves the Volpe National Transportation Center (Volpe) and FAA by providing implementation and field engineering support to the Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) System program.

Position Responsibilities: This position will support Raytheon’s contract with Volpe in support of the FAA’s Surveillance and Broadcast Services Program Office. The successful candidate will work at multiple FAA sites across the United States providing implementation and field engineering support for the deployment of the network of Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) System ground stations and maintenance of the existing legacy network. The employee will operate without appreciable direction and will exercise considerable latitude when providing technical analysis and support related to ADS-B implementation in accordance with specific program requirements. Duties could include, but would not be limited to:

Participate in the development of field engineering analysis, environmental analysis, and creation of white papers in regards to Volpe ADS-B product. The employee will also regularly contribute to the development of new analysis, and will be seen by customer as an expert in the field.

Codify feedback on field engineering ADS-B analysis to determine root causes, then use judgment and experience to recommend appropriate corrective action. In developing corrective action the applicant must be able to develop solutions to complex problems that are consistent with overall RTN organizational objectives.

· On site and remote-to-site test engineering and certification process development and implementation/deployment related to ADS-B products and services. More specifically, the employee will technically analyze the ADS-B product, advise, then assist, in effecting design and/or implementation process changes and improvements.

· Play a lead role in planning the schedule and development phases of ADS-B installation. More specifically analyze the implementation process to discover dependences, any critical path errors, etc.

· Participate in development of implementation/deployment requirements for the ADS-B product on performance specification development teams.

· Provide guidance and training to establish implemtation/deployment and inspection/test/certification procedures and techniques for ADS-B products.

· Conduct and take part in on site and remote-to-site participation surveys concerning ADS-B product installations.

This position serves as a local, on site representative and point of contact for the FAA, Volpe, and RTN. The candidate may also be asked to provide technical training and briefing to customers both internal and external to RTN and the FAA.

Required Skills: The candidate will have at least 6 years of experience in field engineering. The candidate will possess understanding of and experience with ADS-B and related or similar FAA systems and programs. Required knowledge and experience includes: experience with FAA customer and systems, experience with analysis, product implementation, and deployment of ADS-B and/or related or similar systems and solutions. Experience serving as a site representative/point of contact for a FAA customer on an independent working site. Experience analyzing and solving implementation issues with multiple FAA products. Experience briefing both external and internal customers on product specifications and performance. Ability to pass a Department of Transportation background check and maintain DOT Clearance is required for this position.

Desired skills: Experience in problem solving and troubleshooting complex FAA systems. Technical analysis experience as well as knowledge of FAA operations and support processes is desirable. Internal knowledge of RTN is a plus.

Required Education: Bachelors degree with a minimum of 6 years related experience. An additional 8 years of experience may be substituted for education.
